BIG LOVE

Ha ancora senso parlare d’amore?

In un tempo segnato dalla guerra, dall’inasprimento dei conflitti, dalla normalizzazione della violenza e dall’impoverimento del linguaggio pubblico, dedicare un festival all’amore potrebbe apparire un gesto ingenuo. Per noi è l’esatto contrario. 

Da dodici anni il BIG attraversa le contraddizioni del presente interrogando i corpi, le identità, le differenze, le marginalità, il desiderio e le forme del potere. Abbiamo guardato il mondo senza sottrarci alla sua complessità, provando ogni volta a trasformare lo sgomento in pensiero, la fragilità in meraviglia, il dissenso in occasione di incontro. Se l’odio è il linguaggio del nostro tempo, l’amore è la risposta più ostinata. Per questo nasce BIG LOVE. 

Non l’amore come rifugio sentimentale, ma come forza capace di opporsi alla brutalità, alla volgarità, al risentimento, all’indifferenza. Le opere di questa edizione ne esplorano molte forme: amori inquieti, vulnerabili, sensuali, imperfetti, caparbi, folli. Corpi che resistono, identità che si cercano, comunità che si ricompongono, nuove possibilità di stare al mondo.

BIG LOVE è anche una dichiarazione d’amore verso il nostro lavoro, spesso fragile e invisibile; verso gli artisti e le artiste che continuano a immaginare; verso Bari e i suoi luoghi; verso il pubblico che continua ad attraversare il festival insieme a noi. Vogliamo emozionarvi. Commuovervi. Stringervi.

Perché l’amore non è una fuga dalla realtà. È una forma di resistenza.

🖤 Questa dodicesima edizione è dedicata ad Andrea Sorino, nostro direttore tecnico, scomparso prematuramente nel gennaio 2026. La sua competenza, la dedizione e la generosità con cui ha costruito il BIG insieme a noi restano parte di questo festival.

Does it still make sense to speak of love? 

In an age marked by war, by escalating conflict, by the normalisation of violence and the impoverishment of public discourse, devoting a festival to love might seem a naive gesture. For us, it is quite the opposite.

For twelve years BIG has moved through the contradictions of the present, questioning bodies, identities, differences, the margins, desire and the forms that power takes. We have looked at the world without shying away from its complexity, trying each time to turn dismay into thought, fragility into wonder, dissent into a chance to come together.
If hatred is the language of our time, love is the most stubborn answer.

This is where BIG LOVE comes from.

Not love as sentimental refuge, but as a force capable of standing up to brutality, vulgarity, resentment, indifference. The works in this edition explore its many forms: love that is restless, vulnerable, sensual, imperfect, headstrong, wild. Bodies that resist, identities in search of themselves, communities putting themselves back together, new ways of being in the world.

BIG LOVE is also a declaration of love for our work, so often precarious and unseen; for the artists who keep on imagining; for Bari and its places; for the audience that keeps moving through the festival alongside us.

We want to move you. To hold you.

Because love is not an escape from reality.
It is a form of resistance.

🖤 This twelfth edition is dedicated to Andrea Sorino, our technical director, who died before his time in January 2026. His skill, his dedication and the generosity with which he built BIG alongside us remain part of this festival.
